OceanPass partners with Veracity by DNV to give ship finance a live view of financed emissions

COPENHAGEN 9th July 2026 — OceanPass, an emissions-intelligence platform for maritime finance and chartering, today announced a strategic partnership with Veracity by DNV, the leading data platform for trusted ocean data, from classification society DNV.

The partnership connects DNV-verified vessel data, delivered through the Veracity platform and Emissions Connect, directly to the financing and commercial decisions that banks and charterers make every day.

The Poseidon Principles established a common standard for measuring the emissions associated with shipping loans and created an important foundation for transparency across the industry. The framework was designed around annual reporting cycles, meaning lenders typically receive an alignment score 12-15 months after the reporting period closes, describing a portfolio that has already changed. DNV has through its Emissions Connect and Veracity enabled a continuous daily verification of emissions data, making it a live feed of verified data all year around. This partnership extends the value of that verified data into the decisions banks make every day.

Under the partnership, DNV verified data is securely and seamlessly connected to OceanPass, where it is transformed into live portfolio intelligence for banks.

OceanPass blends DNV-verified data with blind-validated, high-resolution estimates for vessels without a live feed, helping banks understand the largest possible share of their portfolio. The partnership builds on a clear separation of roles, where DNV performs independent verification and trusted data integrity, while OceanPass leverages the foundation to deliver decision-grade intelligence.

Why this partnership is different

Most emissions reporting processes remain periodic and retrospective. This partnership places a current, independently verified view inside the workflows that banks already use, combining independent verification, access to the Veracity ecosystem of ocean data and partners, and bank-grade commercial tooling.

One verified dataset can support Poseidon Principles submissions, Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) reporting, vessel-level risk assessment, and pre-deal analysis without additional data collection. Banks can model portfolio alignment through 2030 and beyond, assess the impact of prospective financings before they are booked, switch between Poseidon Principles and PCAF views, and evaluate the potential effect of new fuels or efficiency measures.

Privacy by design

Sensitive financial data is calculated locally within the bank's own browser and never leaves it. As more participants contribute data through the Veracity platform, verified coverage expands across the industry, increasing the value of a shared and independently verified data foundation.

Perspective from OceanPass

"Scaling maritime decarbonisation is not a technology problem or a data problem. It's a coordination problem. By the time a bank sees its emissions number, the loan is signed, the capital is deployed, and the ship has been trading for a year. We give banks the view while the decision is still in their hands."

Matthew Galston, CEO, OceanPass

Perspective from DNV

"We see this partnership as a strong example of how the Veracity ecosystem creates value: trusted, verified data connected seamlessly into the workflows of our OceanPass' customers. By extending DNV's independently verified data into continuous portfolio insight, we give banks a more current and reliable basis for the decisions that shape investment decisions."

Mikkel Skou, Executive Director, Veracity by DNV

What this means for banks

For banks, the partnership means a current, verified view of most of the portfolio, one they can act on while decisions are still open, instead of a score that lands a year too late.

"Reliable, standardized data is what lets us align and de-risk our portfolio in line with the transition, but we typically receive it a year or more after the reporting period closes. A single system that standardizes and verifies "live" data across the industry could be a step change and one we should explore further for lenders in managing how we finance this transition."

Paul Taylor, Chair, Poseidon Principles

Availability

OceanPass's real-time calculation engine is commercially live with charterers and operators including BW Group, Falcon Maritime, WECO, Tata Steel, and Heidelberg Materials Trading. OceanPass is also an approved Sea Cargo Charter Preferred Pathway Verifier.

The bank-facing Bankers Module is in advanced development, with approximately 50,000 vessels integration-ready through the Veracity by DNV network. The first bank pilot is planned for later this year.
